Discover Our Story and Passion For Road Safety

Advanced Driving Academy was established in 2015 by David Watt and Jim Thompson, to deliver cost-effective driver training solutions to businesses of all sizes.  David and Jim have a wealth of experience and knowledge in driver training, both in the UK and internationally, with a strong track record of training drivers of all skill levels. With an increasing number of road users and 1 in 3 incidents involving those who drive for work, they recognised the need for high-quality driver training, delivered at cost-effective prices. This mission saw the creation of Advanced Driving Academy, and we have been delivering our bespoke driver training solutions ever since.

In 2023, David brought Advanced Driving Academy to Kenya in order to serve the East Africa region. Through his work in Kenya since 2014, he identified the need for higher quality road safety education at more local prices. In November 2023 Alba Advanced Driving Academy was born.

Learning the Theory

Our classroom sessions create an opportunity to learn and discuss potential situations that may arise on a regular working day. This allows for an open discussion about the best course of action to take based on each risk. These sessions are useful for gaining insight into employees’ driving behaviour and their decision making. It also presents an opportunity for us to educate your employees on a variety of different subject areas. This builds upon your employees’ theoretical knowledge, which is key for helping to keep safe behind the wheel. 

Implementing Theory to Practice

The training that we deliver in-vehicle builds upon what we teach in the classroom.  This allows our trainers to assess your employees’ driving skills and technique, highlighting areas for improvement. Through this, our experienced trainers deliver a truly tailored training session for each employee. The subject of this training varies depending on the session being delivered but focuses on encouraging and developing a better driving technique. This is achieved by improving employees’ anticipation and awareness skills to create a ‘safety bubble’ around their vehicle and encouraging better use of the vehicle’s controls.

Each of our experienced driver trainers possess several qualifications from the DVSA, hold advanced driving qualifications from ROSPA or IAM, and formal classroom teaching qualifications.
